I provided Dee Ann and Michael with my research information and documentation about Asa's children, James, Edith and John Green McKay in Missouri. They, in turn, requested that I participate in a "MacKay Surname" Y-DNA project. I submitted my DNA sample and in October 2008, my results confirmed that James M. McKay of Virginia was the father as well as the slave owner of William McKay.

Dee Ann has researched her ancestor's slaves in Virginia and she has provided me with information and references in order to help me find William McKay's mother, "Harriet." I have searched several references to determine if Harriet was taken to Missouri by James McKay or purchased in Missouri. However, I have not found any information on Harriet's origins as of yet.
