1942 death certificate of my grandfather Daniel McKay--the informant was my Aunt Sophia and she indicated that Daniel's father, William, was born in Germany. I believe this myth was created because William grew up in a household and community of German immigrants and he probably learned German language and culture which caused his descendants to mistakenly believe William was German. Sophia also stated that Amelia's maiden name was "Mueller" which seems to be the German spelling of "Miller."
